Interview with Miss F.A.T. 2006 Finalist Tiffany Jones

Miss F.A.T. 2006 Finalist,
Tiffany Jones |
New York native Tiffany Jones came into our hearts when she was introduced as one of ten finalists that would compete for the title of Miss F.A.T. 2006. We watched as she explained to Mo’nique and den mother Sharon Quinn how it hurt not to be able to get in touch with her feminine side. Growing up she endured ridicule about her big feet, big lips and deep voice and even as a young adult she still found it hard to deal with the ridicule. “I am a lady” Tiffany said “… I just want to show my feminine side”. Ms Jones did just that and much more…..
[Maddy] When did you decide you wanted to part of Mo'Niques F.A.T. Chance and why?
[Tiffany] I wasn't aware that Mo'Nique's F.A.T. Chance was going on until the day before the audition when my modeling group invited me to go. Once I understood the "cause," my reason for auditioning was crystal clear. I wanted to be the 'voice to the voiceless' -- those who struggle with feminine
aggression and the lack of balance or at least, the perceived lack of balance. It was also important for me to bring hope to those who suffer from depression and suicidal ideation but remain functional so no one knows.
[Maddy] Did you imagine how the interview would happen? How did you feel about meeting such an inspiring woman?
[Tiffany] I didn't imagine how the interview would happen... I just didn't want to sound silly and immature. Meeting Mo'Nique, was like looking into the mirror of my future...like seeing my angel...the one who was God's vessel
to share with me that everything was going to be alright. When she questioned me, I knew she wasn't judging me...that almost never happens.

[Maddy] What did you share with Mo'Nique and Sharon during your interview that you believe set you apart from other women?
[Tiffany] I'm not really sure what set me apart from the other women. I simply told her the truth without embellishment. I told her about my issues with femininity and even about my suicidal attempts as a result of feeling like a failure and being disgusted with myself.
[Maddy]What was the most memorable moment of living in the house with the other contestants? Who did you bond with the most and why? |
[Tiffany] My most memorable moment was the pool party/cookout. Just the idea of being surrounded by celebrities and extremely successful people who are just hanging out, chatting, eating, and even cooking with and for us...was just like being around family. It was such a natural environment, no pretenses. I bonded with Tanisha the most. I think it was simply because we admired one another. I know I admired her strength and perseverance...her
assertiveness in getting what she wanted. She is so incredibly strong, intelligent, caring, and loving. She is a genuine individual.
[Maddy] How has your life changed since the show?
[Tiffany] My life hasn't changed, it's been enhanced. People are showing me so much "love" and concern. Yet, that was already taking place, just more folks are coming out now. And opportunities are presenting themselves moderately.
