What fun to meet and shoot the breeze with the delight-FULLY sexy Glamazon Girls!

Born on a small island in a little place called the East Village the Glamazons never lost their baby fat. Lovingly described as the, "Plus-size Pussy Cat Dolls," these song and dance girls prove that the stage is big enough for even the most buxom of beauties.

Meet the Cast...

Lady Finger: [Maddy] As the first member and creator of the Glamazons what inspired you to put this group together? [Lady Finger] As a performer I always felt I was at the mercy of others, auditioning for roles in the productions of others and trying to fit into their mold.  In the year 2000, I was on the National Tour of the show GREASE.  I had a wonderful experience, was making money, signing autographs and traveling the country.

When I got off tour, I was auditioning again and having a hard time landing my next role.  I started performing a 50 minute cabaret show by myself.  I played lots of clubs in NYC, made good money, and made my own opportunities by having my own show.  I was lonely though, and wanted to feel like a part of a cast.  I was also exhausted performing a show on my own, sometimes 5 times a night!  My mother pointed out an article to me that she saw in PEOPLE magazine.  It was on the group “Big Dance” in Canada.  They were a troupe of plus size ballet dancers!  She encouraged me to start my own group.  I wanted to perform with other plus size women because I always felt proud of my body on stage and got a great response from the audiences for it.  I thought if there were more of us up there, it would be that much more entertaining!

[Maddy]What has been your greatest experience being a Glamazon?

[Lady Finger] Oh, there are so many!  One of them was performing at the opening night party for the Broadway show “Hairspray”.  We were dancing on stage and Bette Midler was watching us right up front for about a half hour!  John Waters was watching us also.  It was very surreal. 

[Maddy] How has being a Glamazon changed your life?

[Lady Finger] It has definitely helped me to take control of my future.  I don’t feel like a game piece on someone else’s board.  It has also shown me there is power in numbers.  When the audience sees a group of talented women on stage who are not afraid to be themselves and flaunt what they have, it can be very empowering and inspirational to them.  Whether they are men, women, gay, straight, fat or thin, the reactions from our fans have really helped me to see what a difference we can make in other peoples lives.

Candy Apple:

[Maddy] Many see the Glamazons as more than just an entertainment group. This group inspires and motivates. What has your experience been like as a member of the Glamazons?

[Candy Apple] Being a part of the Glamazons has really helped my growth as a person. I've really gained a strong sense of who I am and what I have to offer. I'm so much stronger and more confident. I'm proud of my size and now I'm not afraid anymore. This group and these girls have helped me to love myself. Us big girls have got to stick together and show the world what we're made
of!

[Maddy] Where do the Glamazons get their sexy sense of style?

[Candy Apple] I think if you feel sexy, then you are sexy. The Glamazons are trying to break away from the norm by wearing color and showing skin, but doing it with class. We are not afraid to show off our curves!

Caramella:

[Maddy] I’ve seen the Glamazons perform more than once; you are all so full of energy!How often do you rehearse and how do you keep yourselves in such great shape?

[Caramella] For rehearsals, it all depends on what we have going on. We usually meet 2-3 times a week to rehearse songs and new material.  We go over numbers and outfits, and any business that needs attention.  If we have an upcoming show then sometimes we have more rehearsals. For our lovely bods, we eat right and workout during the week or before rehearsals.  It’s a lot of hard work and focus so it’s important to eat foods that help our lifestyle rather than hinder it.  Dance is such a big part of what we do so a lot of our workouts don’t seem like work at all!

[Maddy] Is there one specific moment that you hold special as being part of the Glamazons?

[Caramella] Whenever I perform it makes all the time, effort and energy I exert worthwhile.  We all put so much energy into creating a show and we never really know how it will be received.  We’re having fun while putting it together, so once we’re on stage and the show is done and people love it, there’s nothing like it in the world!  That moment is like world peace.  I feel at that moment that all our hard work paid off and somehow contributes to the betterment of ourselves and hopefully someone else’s life as well.

Ginger Snap:

[Maddy] How did you hear of the Glamazons and what made you audition to be the newest member? [Ginger Snap] I read that the Glamazons were auditioning in Backstage. It’s not often that you see a casing call for plus size women. I was new to the city and had no idea who the Glamazons were. Once I met them I fell in love. [Maddy] How long have you been a Glamazon and what has your experience been like? [Ginger Snap] I have been a part of the Glamazons since August 2006, although I started my journey with the girls in May as part of “America’s Next Top Glamazon”. I’ve never been in a girl group before. It definitely has its challenges but I couldn’t ask for three better girls to be with. It’s never easy, but it is always worth it.
