Model Marisol Vizcarra...

When did you decide you wanted to be a plus model?

It started in high school; my friends and I would go to the mall to take pictures in the photo machines, which allowed us to make photo stickers and all sorts of neat stuff. We always tried to look our best and we would place our pictures in our school folders and show them off to our friends and family. Everyone would tell me I was very photogenic. Even while working, people would approach me and ask me if I was, or have I ever thought about modeling. All I thought to myself was "Wow maybe I should do some research?"

It's never too late, so here I am!

Who are your favorite curvy role models?

I would say Queen Latifah... very talented, beautiful and curvy....

What are your gripes about plus size clothing?

I have come across some department stores and have noticed that some of the plus size clothing racks are not very tasteful. I truly believe that we are all entitled to trendy, fun yet fashionable clothing to wear. If I could I would meet with many clothing line designers and make them understand how important it is to make all woman feel as sexy as possible regardless of our size.

What are your dreams, desires and goals as a plus model?

As a woman I appreciate every curve and imperfection in my body; by doing so, it has giving me the confidence and energy to be able to walk into any room full of people without having to look down or worry about what others may say. So needles to say that my desire would be to make every curvy lady feel the same way.

My dream would be to make the industry see that plus models are also smart, confident, beautiful and as marketable as any other model in the industry; yes we are the curvy woman of today and we are bringing sexy back!

My goal as a plus size model would be to continue to represent all the beautiful plus models in every way possible and eventually gain attention nationwide in hopes that together we can break boundaries and make others see that you don't have to be super thin to be super beautiful, confident and sexy.

Name your favorite store to shop for curvy clothes in your hometown...

I would have to say New York and Company.

Their clothes are trendy, tasteful and they cater from standard sizes and extend to plus sizes. They make all of their clothes available in all of the sizes and place them all in the same racks without separating the larger sizes in the back or with a big sign announcing a particular section strictly for plus sizes. Whether you're petite, average or tall... your guaranteed to find the best fitting pants and cute tops for the working woman of today to the woman on the run.
